Official Game

For a 6-inning regulation game (9U-12U), the game becomes official after completion of 3.5 or 4 innings (if home team is ahead).

For a 7-inning regulation game (13U-15U), the game becomes official after completion of 4.5 or 5 innings (if home team is ahead).

For all MBL league games, a game may also become official if the time limit has been reached.

If a game is suspended and/or eventually called due to weather and the teams have completed the number of innings to make the game official, then the game is over and the final score is official.

If a game is suspended due to weather before the teams have completed enough innings to make the game official AND before the time limit has been reached, the game will be continued at a later time from the moment the game was suspended. All pitch counts and batting order will transfer to the continuation of the suspended game, as well as the elapsed time in relation to the time limit.

If a game is suspended before the teams have completed enough innings to make the game official but the time limit has been reached, the game is over and the final score is official.

In certain situations regarding this rule, if opposing coaches agree to terminate the game, then the game is over and the score is official.

*** If a game is called when the teams have not had an equal number of completed turns at bat, the score shall revert to what it was at the end of the last completed inning - except that if the home team in its half of the incomplete inning, scores a run (or runs) which equals or exceeds the opponent's score, the final score shall be as recorded when the game is called.

Example 1: In an 11AA game, the visiting team scores 3 runs and takes the lead 5-4 in the top of the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th, after 2 outs are recorded, dangerous weather enters the area and the game is eventually called. This game is official and the score will revert back to what it was after completion of the 4th inning. (Home team would win 4-2.)

Example 2: In a 9AAA game, the visiting team scores 3 runs and takes the lead 5-4 in the top of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 3rd, after 2 outs are recorded, dangerous weather enters the area. The elapsed time is 2 hours and 5 mins. The game is eventually called. This game is official due to the time limit being reached. The score will revert back to what it was after completion of the 2nd inning. (Home team would win 4-2.)

Example 3: In a 10AAA game with the home team leading 5-4, at the third out of the bottom of the 3rd inning, 2 hours and 3 minutes have elapsed from the time of the first pitch. This game is over and the game is official, even though the teams did not complete 3.5 or 4 innings. In 6-inning regulation games, no new inning may begin after 2 hours elapsed.

Example 4: In a 15AAA game with the visiting team leading 10-1, at the third out of the bottom of the 4th inning, 2 hours and 14 minutes have elapsed from time of first pitch.  In this case, the 5th inning has begun and the teams will play the 5th inning.  The game will end after the 5th inning - even if the teams are tied - and the game will be official.  In 7-inning regulation games, no new inning may begin after 2 hours and 15 minutes elapsed.
