Guidance on the new 14A+ and 15A Divisions
Brian MonahanNew for the 2026 season, MBL will dissolve the 14/15A division and move to 14A+ and 15A. This is in response to a strong majority of coaches and Travel Directors favoring this change.
Quick Descriptions:
14A+
* Intended mainly for 14U players moving to the 90’ field for the first time.
* Select 15U/freshmen will be allowed to roster on these teams in special cases, with league approval.
* With the exception of teams in areas that play junior high baseball in April/May, or other special situations, 14A+ teams should be able to start game play in late April/early May.
15A
* Intended for teams with majority or a significant number of 15U/freshmen on the roster.
* Skill level centers around 15U/freshman “B” and players who are not playing high school baseball.
* 14U/8th graders are allowed to roster; we anticipate many 14U players playing in this division.
